Port Hills Smith and Sons have undertaken 3 major projects for us.

Building a large multi-level deck and boardwalk - including stadium steps and adjoining landscaping as designed, and extensive concrete patio laying.

Internal and external repairs - resulting from the February Christchurch earthquake including relining, new bracing schedule to revised standards, foundation repairs and relevelling, replacement of waste and rain water systems and fireplace and chimney repair and upgrade. This work was largely carried out under the EQC “opt out” process and under their supervision and approval.

Modernization of our 1920’s weatherboard villa - This involved the reconfiguration of most rooms; the installation of 2 new bathrooms; the installation of a new kitchen (built by others); installation of 3 enclosed skylights; and the supervision of a complete new roof.

All 3 major projects were completed largely on time and on budget. We are very impressed with Anthony’s organizational ability; choice of sub-contractors; attention to detail; communication; and open and co-operative attitude.

We have no reservation in recommending Port Hills Smith and Sons for any residential or light commercial construction, upgrade or repair.

`Opting out was the smartest move I made post earthquake. Your builder, your time frame and you in the driver`s seat. Like most Cantabrians I have taken plenty of bruising body blows from the EQC. Opting out allowed me to take control of the repair process.
